Christy is originally from Ames, IA and attended Iowa State University in her hometown for her undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics with a minor in Spanish. After teaching English for a summer at a university in Bangkok, Thailand, Christy decided to follow in her father’s footsteps and went on to graduate school; she received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha in 2005.
Christy has worked in a variety of physical therapy fields, starting off her career at The Nebraska Medical Center as a float physical therapist. Her experience included treating inpatients in the ICU, pediatrics, the burn unit, oncology, neuro rehab, post-operative orthopedics, and working on the post-transplant floor, as well as outpatient orthopedics.
After having children, Christy continued working part-time as a physical therapist, doing some home health therapy, and later returning to her passion of orthopedics at the Iowa State University Student Health Center.
Christy, her husband, and their four children relocated to Fort Collins in the fall of 2016. While Christy thoroughly enjoys her full-time job of motherhood, home management, and homeschooling her kids, she has found that working part time at Rebound has offered her a fantastic “vacation” from every day life. She enjoys working with patients of all ages, and helping them to come up with a treatment plan that is realistic to manage and maintain in every day life.
If she has any free time, Christy enjoys spending time with her family hiking and skiing, and grabbing a few minutes alone with a cup of coffee and a good book.
