Balance Awareness Week
Did you know?
- More than 1/3 of adults 65 and older fall each year in the United States
- Among older adults, falls are the leading cause of injury deaths. (They are also the most common cause of nonfatal injuries and hospital admissions for trauma)
- Many people who fall, even those who are not injured, develop a fear of falling. (This fear may cause them to limit their activities, leading to reduced mobility and physical fitness, and increasing their actual risk of falling)
Help Rebound recognize Balance Awareness Week and inform your loved ones with these facts.

great info on the elderly and falls.
This is really good info. I will pass it along to my Grandmother and Co Workers. Thanks
This is such an important issue — I’ll never forget the day my Dad fell and broke his hip.
This is great information. What is involved in the Balance Consultation? I will pass this information on to friends and family. Thanks
Thanks for the blog. It is important to be aware of the seriousness of falling. One way of understanding this importance is through Balance Awareness Week. Another way is through blogs such as this! Thanks again.
It is not just the pain and suffering theyndeal with, the expense of dealing with a fall goes on for years after a hip fracture or other debilitating fall. Great info.
Great information. I hear that older people fall all the time resulting in injury and getting this treatment would help so many people.
A Balance Consultation will include 20-30 minutes of assessment by a physical therapist. During this assessment the physical therapist will challenge your balance systems to determine what level of formal physical therapy you might need to improve your balance.
Balance consultation? What a great idea! Thanks for the info.
